Rainbow flag (LGBT)

Recommended Posts

The rainbow flag is an emblem of lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGBT) pride. The gay pride banner or LGBTQ pride flag are also known. Their colors represent the diversity of the homosexual community as well as the spectrum of sexuality and gender. The rainbow was first used as a symbol for gay pride in San Francisco, California. It then became more common at LGBT events around the world.

Originally devised by artist Gilbert Baker, Lynn Segerblom, James McNamara and other activists, the design underwent several revisions after its debut in 1978, and continues to inspire variations. From 1979 to today, the most popular variant of the rainbow flag is six stripes. The flag is displayed horizontally with the red stripe at the top. Many Gay people use a rainbow dildo, or similar products to show their pride and meet their sexual desire.

As an outward symbol of support or identity, LGBT people and allies use rainbow flags and other rainbow-themed items and colors. Many other flags and symbols can be used to communicate specific identities within LGBT communities.
